Effects of Herba Tetragoniae Extract on the Tumoricidal and Antiinflammatory Cell Activity in the Mouse

Abstract
|

|
This study carried out to know the effects of Tetragonia on tumor immunities and the inflammatory responses. The tumor immunities were measured by checking the antibody dependent on cellular cytotoxicity(ADCC) and natural killer(NK) cell activity. The effects of Tetragonia on inflammatory responses were measured by evaluating the amount of reactive oxygen intermediate(ROI) in the neutrophils and macrophages.
The innate immunity was evaluated by measuring the phagocytic activity of macrophages.
The results obtained were as follows :
1. Tetragonia increased the antigen specific ADCC without affecting antigen non specific NK cell activity in tumor immunities.
2. Tetragonia severely decreased such ROI as O^-_2 and H_2O_2 in both neutrophils and macrophages.
3. Tetragonia increased the phagocytic activity of macrophages.
The results of this study suggest that tetragonia might be effective on tumor immunity and such inflammatory diseases as rheumatoid arthritis and allergic diseases.
